VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

DRIVING AN UNREGISTERED VEHICLE

Driving an unregistered vehicle is a serious offence that can have far-reaching and catastrophic consequences. It’s a scary thought when you think about what could happen if your vehicle is unregistered.

Making sure cars are roadworthy is a big part of the registration system and about protecting drivers andpassenger. Every vehicle must be registered to be covered by compulsory third party insurance (CTP). This insurance makes sure that everyone is covered for personal injury if someone is hurt in an accident.

Here’s the run-down on what the different road-worthiness inspections, and how to make sure you’re covered.

PRE-PURCHASE VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

This is a fully comprehensive inspection report which includes a complete check of the vehicle. The inspection involves a thorough jacked up examination of all mechanical components and also the bodywork, paintwork and under structure, for evidence of any damage or unsatisfactory repair work.

The interior and electrical components are checked and the vehicle’s electronic control unit checked for any fault codes followed by a road test. If you are buying a second hand car and dont want to be stuck with a lemon then why not give us a call today!

BLUE SLIP INSPECTION

A Blue Slip Inspection is a safety report for unregistered vehicles. This is done to prove your vehicle is roadworthy and also makes sure the car meets design and identity standards. We, at Sebs Mechanical are an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station (AUVIS) where you can get a blue slip inspection.

PINK SLIP INSPECTION

A Pink Slip Inspections is required for all vehicles more than three years old. Its is carried when your vehicle is due for its registration renewal. Your vehicle will be inspected for safety and a condition is sent to the NSW RMS. Your registration
renewal notice will advise you if your vehicle needs an inspection. To get the pink slip, you need to take your vehicle to an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) such as Sebs Mechanical Repairs.

E-SAFETY CHECK

An E-Safety check is when your Pink Slip report is sent to the RMS electronically. This allows you to renew your Rego online or by phone. You must visit an e-Safety Check Inspection Station to get your e-Safety Check.

WHITE SLIP

If your vehicle fails its Pink Slip Inspection you will be issues with a White Slip. A White Slip is an inspection report rejection slip. It details the repairs required before a vehicle can be registered. Once the repairs are carried out and you have the vehicle re-inspected, the vehicle will receive a pink or blue slip.
